About this property

Welcome to Big Beach BÄRN

Big Beach BÄRN is a guest house located at 545 Marine Dr in Ucluelet, British Columbia, offering access to a unique coastal setting rather than a traditional sandy beach experience. Visitors appreciate the quiet atmosphere and scenic views, including opportunities to explore the remains of a 19th-century shipwreck and enjoy the rock formations and tidal pools that surround the area.

This property serves as a calm retreat for those interested in nature walks and outdoor exploration. The adjacent Wild Pacific Trail provides hiking options nearby, and the site features picnic areas with seating, informational boards about local wildlife, and family-friendly activities such as trivia games and geocaching. The west-facing location is particularly noted for its sunset views, although some reviews suggest the best viewing times may vary.

Guest feedback highlights Big Beach BÄRN as a peaceful spot suitable for beach combing and relaxing rather than typical beach lounging. The rocky terrain and coastal features make it more suited to visitors who enjoy exploring natural surroundings and discovering shells and marine life rather than sunbathing. Quiet moments to sit and take in the scenery are common experiences here.

With a solid rating of 4.6 based on over a hundred reviews, the property appeals to travelers looking for tranquility and close contact with the natural landscape of Ucluelet. Its location near other well-known beaches like Long Beach adds convenience for those wanting to explore the wider area while staying close to a less crowded destination.

Nice quiet beach. It is just down the road from Long Beach but is protected from the open surf.

Was recommended to come here in May for best views of the sunset. Not great for sunset watching overall, but still a neat place for a day trip. They have some informational signange and trivia games for kids nearby with a trail and some geocaching which I thought was well organized. There were some locals having a weiner roast on the beach and I found some cute shells so overall it was worth the stop.

Gorgeous location and being west facing means glorious sunset views. Old (late 1800s) shipwreck make for some interesting exploring. The Wild Pacific Trail runs along the beach making for great hiking opportunities.

What a sweet little beach. Great place to watch the sun set. Covered picnic tables and little nooks here and there with a table or log to rest and relax. So quiet and tranquil. Borrow a walking stick from the eagle display and scope out the shipwreck remains on the beach. Little bitty crabs in the tidal pools and beautiful mounds of crushed sea shells.

This is a nice little beach and definitely does deserve some of your time. Don't head over there thinking that you are going to a pristine sand beach. While there is some sand, this beach is one that lends itself more to the beach combing type. As you walk around you can find some amazing artifacts from the ocean. IF you sit down and slowly sift through the course sand, you can find some amazing little shells that are simply amazing. There are tide pools here also, so have some fun poking around and see what you can discover in them.

Awesome spot to play around on the rocks beside the ocean. There are also some sweet tide pools all over the place, which are particularly interesting at night (just be sure to bring a headlamp, good shoes / boots, and mind the tides so you don't get stranded).
